2010 SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS

The Measurement Science Conference would like to congratulate each of these 2010 Scholarship Award Winners and wish them much success with their future. [L-R] Hike Yefremian, Casey Rowlan, Matthew Kempton, Robert Taft and Issa Moody

Hike Yefremian attends California State University, Los Angeles, and is pursuing a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.  His research efforts include developing methods for measuring and analyzing the effects of dynamic pressure and wind on Solar Power Plant Heliostats.
Casey Rowlan attends Brigham Young University in Provo, UT where he is pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.  He has extensive metrology experience obtained as an intern at the Naval Surface Weapons Center in Corona, CA. This experience has served him well as he effectively applies concepts learned during his internship to his current engineering laboratory course work.

Mathew Kempton attends ITT Technical Institute and recently completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. He has over nine years experience as a working  Metrologist.  His current efforts include a role as a product development engineer for a large Biotech company developing methods for hypodermic syringe critical parameter measurements including flow rates, plunger force, eccentricity, etc.

Robert Taft attends the University of Southern California in Los Angeles where he is working toward a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering. His coursework includes developing sensors and methods for the high accuracy measurement of bio-signals (heart-rate, blood pressure, body temperature, ECG, etc.).

Issa Moody is the 2010 Paroscientific Scholarship award winner. He attends the University of California, Irvine, and is pursuing a Ph. D. in Molecular Biology.  His Ph.D. thesis explores single molecule conductance measurements associated with chemical reactions in the brain.
